Monday

 I was absent.

Friday

Today we read an article on increasing gun violence involving teenagers. We underlined important information and then supported our claim with evidence from the article. After we explained the evidence, Mr. Rease checked it and we corrected our mistakes. It was then time to go.

Thursday

I went to the reading bowl celebration.

Wednesday

I was absent. I strained my ligament on my left knee from the last basketball game I played.

Tuesday

Tuesday we came in and went over how we would go through documents on the AP test. We basically skimmed through each document and determined if it would support our claim. It was extremely boring but I understood why we had to go over this. Then, it was about time to go.

Monday

Today we had a substitute. I did some questions in class and some at home. But we were chilling, laughing, and having a good time. Then it was time to go.

Friday

Friday we read some more of “Wild”. We answered some questions based on 1-2 paragraphs in illuminate. That was basically what we did the whole class period. This was pretty easy and cool.

Thursday

Today Mr. Rease wasn’t here for my block so most of us went to 222 if I remember correctly. We basically sat there until it was time to go. I was glad to have a little break today because I was drained.

Wednesday

Today we read chapter two of “Wild.” I was exhausted from basketball practice and I went to sleep. I have to catch up on the book because when we started I had to go to the counselor’s office so I’ll be caught up by Monday, hopefully. We also took down important words and definitions from the book. I got that after I woke up.

Tuesday

Today we got into random groups. We did a research assignment on the Pacific Crest Trail. My group researched the water resources on the trail. My group showed 2 videos and presented where to find the water sources and how far they were. After the other groups presented, it was time to go. This was a pretty cool and fun activity!

Friday

 I was absent.

Thursday

Today we came in and did a bell ringer about the pros and cons of being alone. One pro on my list was that it allows you to be honest with yourself. One of my cons on my list was that you feel isolated. Then we read some more of “Wild”. Then it was pretty much time to go, especially because the tornado watch.

Bell ringer- Thursday

Aloneness Pros of being alone -time to be honest with yourself - gives you time to sit with your problems - don’t have to worry about others no judgement Cons of being alone -feel isolated -boredom -not good for your mental health  Being alone can be empowering because it may give you a sense of home or calmness. It may also be empowering by giving yourself time which may lead to peace. It also limits distractions which may help one do what they want without judgement.

Monday 1/9

Monday we talked about things we would need on a hike and we made a list. I listed things like a flashlight, canned food, deodorant, clean clothes, a blanket, a lighter, etc. We then talked about things we may need to look out for in the wild. Later, we watched a video of a dude biking away from a fast bear. It was so thrilling and funny!

Wednesday

Today we came in and worked on another rhetorical device called a rhetorical question. My first rhetorical question was “are you dumb?” Then when we were about to read “Wild”, the counselors called me in to change my schedule but I need this class so I decided to  stay and take the class. It wasn’t a big deal. So I really don’t know what’s going on in the book right now but I’ll catch up.

Tuesday

Tuesday we came in and did our bell ringer about a time how our life changed completely. Mines was about when my parents divorced when I was really young. After we shared, we read the prologue of “Wild”, the book we’re reading right now. It was a pretty good intro to let us know about the reader.

Wednesday

Today I was so sleepy so I took a picture of our assignment and took a nap. I was mostly listening but my sleep schedule is messed up from the break so I need to fix it. It was a cool period though.

Wednesday

I can improve as a student in multiple ways. I will stop sleeping in class. I will stop talking as much and listen. Mr. Rease could help me be more successful by slowing down a little so I can gather and process everything we’re learning. But just sometimes. Overall your doing a great job as our teacher!
